Soundscape No. 2 is part of a series of short works designed to challenge traditional roles. It is an experimental jazz work that explores the world of sound and texture within the big band context. In this work, a single pitch spreads out, slowly getting wider and further apart, creating a shifting sonic landscape. The rhythm section focuses on color and texture rather than timekeeping, supporting a free-form tenor solo that emerges within the evolving soundscape. The piece closes with the two outer voices converging back to the single pitch that first set the piece in motion.
